Slavic gods are rather difficult to classify. Their roles are frequently mixed, and their nature itself is not clearly defined. Due to this, it is not possible to follow some of the patterns used to systematize mythologies of other peoples, for example astrological pattern or the pattern of the cabalistic Tree of Life. We have therefore classified Slavic gods into two groups, dividing them into traditional and non-traditional ones. To make this division more precise, we have divided traditional gods into the Kiev and Polab pantheons, and those gods that were worshipped in other areas. The Kiev pantheon is of course related to the Eastern Slavs, and the Polab one is related to the Slavs who lived on the territory between the Odra and Elbe Rivers, and the Baltic Sea to the north. The Polab pantheon, however, encloses a much wider territory, which was the homeland of many tribes, such as Polabs, Obotri, and many others. Non-traditional deities are mainly those belonging to Slavic Vedism, a neo-pagan movement based on the books of Alexander Asov and Juri Mirolubov. Moreover, we have also classified as non-traditional those gods whose tradition is disputable, that is to say those gods that we cannot with certainty claim to be of Slavic origin. Last of all we enlist the gods that are only mentioned in passing in the texts dealing with the old Slavic creed.
